ISO 22000
The international standard ISO 22000 defines the requirements for the food safety management system in the food chain, where an organization must demonstrate its ability to control food hazards to ensure that every food product is safe at the time of consumption. By certifying to ISO 22000, we guarantee the safety of our production and the possibility of safely packaging food products.
ISO 22000 ensures that we apply high standards for food safety management.
ISO 22000 specifies the requirements for the food safety management system, including internationally recognized and widely adopted elements to ensure food safety throughout the food chain, including up to the point of final consumption:
Good communication throughout the food chain;
Systematic management, process control;
Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA cycle - integrating two separate cycles: one covering the management system and the other covering HACCP principles;
Implementation of HACCP principles and direct connection to the Codex Alimentarius code;
Compliance with good hygiene and manufacturing practices.
ISO 22000 combines the principles of the HACCP system (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) with prerequisite programs (PRPs), known as good hygiene and manufacturing practices (GMP).
ISO 22000 requires all hazards that can reasonably be expected to occur in the food chain, including hazards related to the type of process and facilities used, to be identified and assessed. This allows for the identification and documentation of the reasons for the need for control over certain identified hazards and the lack of such a need for other identified hazards.

Benefits of implementing ISO 22000: ISO 22000 enables the organization to:
Introduce a food safety management system to help improve overall safety-related activities;
Consistently provide food-related products and services that are safe and comply with regulatory requirements;
Improve risk management in food safety processes;
Assess and evaluate customer requirements and demonstrate compliance with those pre-agreed customer requirements related to food safety to increase customer satisfaction;
Effectively communicate with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders in the food chain on food safety issues;
Ensure compliance with the declared food safety policy and demonstrate stable relationships with the Codex Alimentarius;
Demonstrate this compliance to other interested parties, and
Obtain certification or registration of the food safety management system from an external organization, or conduct self-assessment, or declare compliance with this international standard.
Food safety involves preventing, eliminating, and controlling hazards associated with food products from the place of production to the place of consumption. Since food safety threats can arise at any stage of the process, every enterprise in the food supply chain must exercise adequate control over hazards. In fact, food safety can only be maintained through the joint efforts of all parties: governments, producers, retailers, and end consumers.
The ISO 22000 standard can be applied by organizations both independently and in an Integrated Management System with other standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, IFS Food, BRC, etc.
